An Intentional Community With A Big Vision
Biblioterre is an intentional community formed around values of ecological sustainability, equitability, indigenous sovereignty and cultural revitalization.
We are currently in the process of purchasing a 700+ acre property in Wakefield, Quebec. Our vision is to share the land with nature, with indigenous communities, build environmentally-friendly housing for our members members, grow healthy food, and support community projects.
Our Community Goals
Shared Land & Resources
Biblioterre will offer shared land, tools, resources, & infrastructure, as well as affordable housing, workshops and classes
Algonquin Sovereign Space
We plan to make 1/2 of the landbase available for Algonquin-led (status or non-status) initiatives.
Ecological Restoration
We plan to dedicate 1/4 of the landbase for ecological restoration.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
People sign-up, buy-in, and pay dues to become members of the cooperative, which gives you a voice in decision-making, and earns you access to Biblioterre’s services. Biblioterre intends to offer shared land, shared tools, shared resources, shared infrastructure, affordable housing, workshops and classes that help ecological and socially-beneficial initiatives to run onsite, and more. By sharing resources, participants can run projects with reduced costs, and lighter ecological footprints. So long as they are aligned with Biblioterre’s values, the projects that you run or join are up to you!.
