Forest Trees

Donations:

Biblioterre is running a fundraising campaign in an effort to meet the needed expenses of its future home. Please read the letters below and consider whether or not you, or someone you may know, may be able to help us out by making a donation.

Note: we operate as a not-for-profit cooperative, which means that 100% of Biblioterre’s profits will be directed toward its vision. However, we are not a charity and therefore donations made to Coopérative Biblioterre are not yet tax-deductible.

If you would like to make a donation, please send an e-transfer to coop.biblioterre@gmail.com, or contact us for more information.

Fundraising For the Algonquin-Led Space:

This is a call-out to Settler-Canadians (non-Indigenous peoples living in Canada who benefit from settler colonialism) who wish to participate in a tangible action to acknowledge Indigenous rights to their traditional land.

Biblioterre is working to purchase a large amount of arable and forested land in Algonquin Anishinaabeg territory, near the Te-nagàdino-zìbi (Gatineau River) in 2020. In order to do so, we need your help.

In acknowledgement of unceded Algonquin traditional territory, and in gratitude for the land on which Biblioterre hopes to reside, Biblioterre intends to make available one half of our future land for Algonquin leadership and use (with openness to people from other Indigenous backgrounds), while Biblioterre provides a supportive role and responsibility for all land fees and taxes.

Fundraising For Ecological Restoration

Given our dependence on the ecological services and health benefits that wild forests provide, preserving them in these times when they are rapidly being destroyed is critical to our survival and the survival of all life and habitat that these forests provide.

We are accepting donations from those wishing to contribute to forest protection and regeneration as a means to further fund the start-up costs necessary for Biblioterre to purchase this land and transition into a fully operational land library cooperative.
